Spending a summer at Pearson VUE as a marketing intern was a truly beneficial experience for me in many aspects.
Pearson VUE is a leader in the fast-paced and competitive industry of computer-based testing and provides cutting-edge products and services. The role of Pearson VUE’s Marketing department is crucial to the success of the company and I had the chance to learn a lot about how the marketing function can support the business goals of a firm. My role was based on Digital Marketing and more specifically I worked on and presented a business case on how the launch of a corporate Intranet can improve the firm’s internal communications and staff effectiveness.
The internship helped me to improve my communication and research skills and I was able to take initiatives and develop my own ideas. Overall I would recommend this internship to every graduate who wants to kick off a career in marketing since the support I got from my manager and colleagues was exceptional and instrumental in developing my skills. |

I spent my time on a number of tasks such as scenario planning exercises, compiling a business case for a new accreditation and helping to improve the company’s Management System as well as producing a number of documentation and reports.
My time spent at the company has given me a great insight of the business and the industry, which has been invaluable experience. Colleagues at Pearson VUE were very approachable. I work-shadowed other departments, which helped me gain an understanding of how the different departments work together.
The induction day and development day have been very inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable, as well as being a great opportunity to make friends across the Pearson Group. I would highly recommend the Pearson Internship to final year students or graduates as it will not only give you some practical experience and look great on your CV, but it will also be a great chance to work with a well-known, FTSE 100 company and put the skills you have learnt from your studies into practice.

I have received so much valuable information within the last 6 weeks, information that will no doubt stay with me as I progress my career.
I worked at Pearson VUE where I was involved in User Acceptance Testing for various software enhancement projects and producing a formal procedure for the process. There was a great balance between providing assistance and my mentor having the trust in me to accomplish the tasks I had been assigned. My team reflected the general work environment which was very relaxed and to my pleasant surprise, very supportive.
I found that the culture at Pearson VUE was very much an "I'm - always-happy-to-help" culture; from Managing Directors, to Senior Managers, to receptionists. Everyone was happy to take time out of their schedules to speak to me, arrange shadowing and provide assistance with my project where I needed it.
Pearson plc really does care about the development of employees. The Diversity team did a really good job of showing this at the motivating induction day; the inspiring development day with guest speakers such as Tim Campbell, Jessica Huie and Michael Eboda; the encouraging resources in the goody bags from each event and the continuous support they showed during the entire internship.
I would recommend the Pearson Diversity internship to anyone and everyone. You get as much out of it as you put in and there is most definitely a lot to get out of it.

The Pearson VUE internship was a wonderful experience. The responsibility of managing a project gave me the opportunity to get a real insight into the Pearson VUE UK business. I found out about the functions of the organisation, I learnt through practical experience of how the PRINCE2 methodology is applied in a professional environment and managed my own project using PRINCE2.
In addition I had the chance to explore opportunities for improvement of the Project Management team by observing, analysing and making recommendations on effectiveness/efficiency by delivering a management consultancy report, all in only six weeks.
I developed an array of skills such an interpersonal, confidence, attention to detail, reporting and presentation skills. What stood out for me the most was the support and guidance I received by my mentor who was fantastic also from all the people in the company who really look after each other. The internship experience made me realise I wanted a career in Project Management. |
