Test Design

Good test design is critical to ensuring your assessments are both ‘valid’ and ‘reliable’.

Test validity means ‘freedom from measurement error’ and ensures that the exams measure the skills and knowledge that they are supposed to measure.

Reliability relates to the consistency of the measuring technique, i.e. the exams should provide a consistent way to measure different candidates with predictable results.

Strong test design is essential to create this combination of validity and reliability and Pearson VUE is highly experienced in developing comprehensive and credible tests:

  • Setting test objectives
  • Defining test domains
  • Conducting job task analyses to determine and recommend the mix of skills, knowledge and abilities to be tested
  • Measuring test effectiveness
