BLOOMINGTON, MINN., JUNE 7, 2012 – Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of Pearson, has been selected by Linux Professional Institute (LPI) as the company’s exclusive delivery provider of LPI certification exams.

Effective July 1, 2012, all LPI exams, which candidates undertake to demonstrate their competency in various aspects of the Linux operating system, will be delivered exclusively through Pearson VUE’s worldwide network of more than 5,000 testing centers in 165 countries.

LPI is globally supported by the IT industry, enterprise customers, community professionals, government entities and the educational community. Since 1999, LPI has delivered over 300,000 exams and 100,000 certifications around the world.

“The decision to move to a single exam delivery partner will provide an overall simplified testing experience for LPI candidates,” said Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI. “Our exclusive agreement with Pearson VUE will enable us to utilize its enhanced security features and expand our reach into global markets.”

“Having first delivered LPI exams back in 1999, our history and industry status will ensure candidates benefit from one point of contact to serve all of their testing needs,” said Robert Whelan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pearson VUE. “We are excited to align exclusively with LPI on the importance of technology innovation and test center security, and look forward to growing our partnership in the years to come.”
