Virginia Dept of Environmental Quality partners with Pearson VUE to transform eight specialist exams from pen-and-paper to computer-based testing

BLOOMINGTON, MN, July 14, 2014 – The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has entered into a new multi-year partnership with Pearson VUE to transform the Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC) and the Storm Water Management Control (SWM) exams from pen-and-paper to computer-based testing (CBT).

There are eight certification testing programs in ESC and SWMC aimed at Program Administrators, Inspectors, Plan Reviewers and Combined Program Administrators. Along with delivering the exams, global CBT leader Pearson VUE will also provide test development, psychometric and test administration services for the exams.

David K. Paylor, Director of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, said: "Pearson VUE offers quality modern testing solutions, excellent customer service, and a strong understanding of DEQ’s certification needs. Virginia candidates seeking Stormwater or Erosion certifications will now have greater flexibility regarding when and where they take their exams, thanks to on-demand testing."

Pearson VUE continues to work with state-based regulatory agencies as they recognise the benefits of moving from pen-and-paper to computer-based testing systems."
