The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) transitions China’s pen-and-paper exams to computer-based testing in partnership with Pearson VUE

BEIJING, CHINA, Oct. 31, 2014 – The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA), in conjunction with IIA–China, is transitioning a series of exams from pen and paper to computer-based testing (CBT), in partnership with global CBT leader Pearson VUE.

Pearson VUE, which won the contract through a competitive bidding process, will administer the Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®), Parts 1, 2, and 3; and Certification in Control Self-Assessment® (CCSA®) exams. Following a September 2014 pilot programme, the exams will be available in 2015 at more than 30 locations nationwide with opportunities to test throughout the year.

Richard F. Chambers, CIA, QIAL, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA, President and CEO of The IIA, said: “Computer-based testing will vastly improve our certification testing in China. I’m confident Pearson VUE will help make automating the traditional pen-and-paper exams smooth and efficient.”

Bob Whelan, President and CEO of Pearson VUE, said: “I am proud that we won the bid on our track record with The IIA. The move from pen-and-paper exams to CBT offers efficiencies with management of the program, which benefit not only The IIA but, significantly, The IIA’s affiliate in China.”
