Computer-based testing innovator and influential leader receives career achievement award

BLOOMINGTON, MN, Feb. 27, 2015 – Pearson VUE, the global leader in computer-based testing, announced today that Betty Bergstrom PhD, vice president of Testing Services, is the recipient of the Association of Test Publishers’ (ATP) 2015 Career Achievement Award. This award honors individuals who have made sustained and positive contributions to the development, application and innovations in testing and measurement.

Dr. Bergstrom’s distinguished career has spanned numerous research and industry roles. In 2000 she presented at ATP’s first conference that introduced Draft Guidelines on Computer Based Testing. Her research on innovative item types and test administration models, including computer adaptive testing, has greatly influenced the growth and maturation of the computer-based testing industry.

A sought after consultant and speaker in the field of computer-based testing and an advocate for publishing new research in professional journals, Dr. Bergstrom has authored and co-authored numerous articles, research publications and presentations that have advanced testing industry best practices.

Dr. Bergstrom previously led Pearson VUE’s psychometric services and senior research scientist, content development and test publishing teams responsible for utilizing measurement theory, statistical methodology and data analysis to provide psychometrically sound examinations for hundreds of client programs. Currently a senior research advisor, Dr. Bergstrom is a strategic business leader and maintains a presence in the professional testing community, seeing that research findings are presented and published at professional conferences and in research journals.

Dr. Bergstrom will accept her award at this year’s ATP Innovations in Testing Conference, March 1-4, in Palm Springs.
