Applicants to the Situational Judgement Test (SJT)
The SJT forms part of the selection process for Dental Core Training. More information about the assessment, including some example questions, is available within the DCT SJT Online Guide 2018 which can be found on the COPDEND website.
You will be required to create an account using your ORIEL PIN (Applicant ID) prior to being invited to attend the SJT. Use the 'Create Account' button on the right hand side of this webpage.
If you are longlisted, you will then be invited to attend the SJT and you will be required to log in (using the 'Sign In' button on the right) and schedule your assessment date and time at one of the available Test Centres. Further guidance about scheduling an SJT appointment is given below.
The Dental Core Training team would like to wish you every success in the SJT.
The assessment is entitled “Dental Core Training SJT”, with the exam series code DCT-SJT.
Once you have signed in to your testing account you will be able to select a Test Centre (subject to availability) and book a place.
Once scheduled, you can choose to subsequently change your booking (to a different date, time or test centre location) if required, up to 48 hours before your scheduled appointment, by simply logging into your account and choosing ‘Reschedule’.
If you book a place but decide not to attend, you must cancel your booking at least 48 hours before the assessment is due to be delivered.
If you require any special adjustments to the assessment (for example wheelchair access or extra time), please contact the DCT NRO Team (DCTNRO@hee.nhs.uk) before you schedule a place so that we can ensure your needs can be accommodated at your chosen Test Centre.
The assessment will begin with a short tutorial to familiarise you with the controls and layout of the screens and will end with a short evaluation questionnaire. Use the Related Link on the right to access the testing tutorial.
Information about the DCT-SJT exam:
Upon arrival at the test centre, you will be required to present one form of original (no photo copies), valid (unexpired) government issued ID that includes your name, photograph, and signature. The first and last name that you used to register must match exactly the first and last name on the ID that is presented on test day. To view the full ID policy, including any additional allowances to this policy, please visit http://www.pearsonvue.com/policies/1.pdf. If you have any questions or concerns about the ID you are required to bring with you to the testing centre for admittance for your exam please contact the Dental Core Training National Recruitment Office.
Once seated at the exam workstation, when the exam is launched, you will be presented with the following:
||A non-disclosure agreement which you must accept in order to progress to the actual exam
||An optional tutorial to help you understand the basic functionality of the computer-based test and how to navigate through it and select your responses (15 mins)
||60 exam questions (115 mins)
||An optional survey to enable you to give feedback (15 mins)
NB: if you have been pre-approved for a time extension (because of a medical or neurological condition), your allotted exam appointment slot time will be increased, and the total appointment duration will be indicated in the confirmation email you receive upon scheduling the appointment. The usual total duration for an exam appointment from start to finish is 145 mins. The amount of time for the SJT exam section itself will be increased by the percentage of the extra time accommodation you have been granted (e.g. usual exam time of 115 mins + 25% extra time = 144 mins for the SJT)
